The goal of this course is to introduce the students to the use of transition metal catalysts in homogeneous catalysis. In particular the following arguments will be discussed in detail:
- Introduction to chemical kinetics and to homogenous organotransition metal catalysts;
- Basic reactions in homogenous organotransition metal catalysis;
- Pd-catalyzed cross-couplings and related reactions: from C-C to C-X;
- Ni-catalysed cross-couplings;
- Introduction on carbene chemistry, carbene transfer and olefin metathesis;
- Homogeneous Hydrogenation: from discovery to new catalyst design;
- Organometallic fine chemical synthesis with unsaturated substrates;
- CO2 valorization
reactions.
