Information engineering

The final exam consists in:

  1. the presentation and the defence of a report on the activity carried out during the internship - under the supervision of a professor (the supervisor) - in industries, companies or external organizations, on the basis of specific agreements, or in a research laboratory of the University of Padua or in other public or private research bodies;
  2. the presentation and the defence of a project, usually comprehensive of an experimental and laboratory work, developed under the supervision of a professor (the supervisor);
  3. the presentation and the defence of a small thesis work assigned by a professor (the supervisor) and developed on topics related to the courses listed in the study plan;

The work material submitted by the student for the final examination will undergo the evaluation of a preparatory commission, appointed by the Director of the Department responsible of the degree and composed by minimum two professors. The preparatory commission will express an evaluation of the work carried out by the student and will forward it to the Graduation Commission appointed by the Director of the Department responsible of the degree, who will establish the final grade.
The final exam will be held in Italian or in English for the students enrolled in the curriculum entitled “Ingegneria dell’Informazione” and only in English for the students enrolled in the curriculum entitled “Information Engineering”. The final defence will be held in Italian or in English for the students enrolled in the curriculum entitled “Ingegneria dell’Informazione” and only in English for the students enrolled in the curriculum entitled “Information Engineering”. For the final exam of the curriculum “Ingegneria dell’Informazione”, it is permitted to write reports in English, if previously agreed with the CCL. In this case, an extended summary in Italian, concerning the work carried out, must be prepared too.
With regard to the confidential information, knowledge and materials, i.e. not publicly accessible, which will be made available for the development of the thesis or of the final exam, students will be required to sign a "Non-disclosure agreement", according to the template approved by the Academic Senate.

The final project consists in an original student thesis work written under the guidance of a supervisor. The thesis will concern a project, a research or development activity, possibly carried out in companies, research bodies or in the public administration. The graduating student shall demonstrate mastery of the topics covered, ability to work independently, attitude for synthesis and communication skills.
The thesis defence will take place in front of a Commission appointed by the Director of the Department responsible of the degree.
The thesis will be written and defended in English.
