  • The Study Plan (Piano di studio) is the list of all the activities (exams, internship, etc.)  you must carry out to earn the credits (CFU/ECTS) required to graduate.

    The Study Plan can be modified throughout the years (in specific timeframes) until you apply for graduation.

    Study Plan can be:

    1. Automatically Accepted: it allows you to choose your elective course units only among  the educational activities offered by your Department/School to fulfill credit requirements,  and it is approved as soon as you click on 'Confirm Plan' (i.e. all the activities are immediately uploaded to your online Transcript);

    2. Requiring approval: It allows you to include some educational activities offered by other Departments/Schools but is subject to approval by the Degree Programme Board (CCS - Consiglio del Corso di Studi).

    Filling in your Study Plan is compulsory. You must fill it out in accordance with the Manifesto degli Studi of your degree program, i.e., a list of all the course units offered in your degree program, and the rules related to your enrolment year.

    Next Timeframe:
    1. November 10th - December 1st -- online procedure is available to all students;
    2. December 7th -- Degree Programme Board completes preliminary evaluation of the study plans;
    3. December 8th - December 14th -- the online procedure is available to students that got rejection in the first phase;
    4. December 17th -- Degree Programme Board completes the evaluation of the study plans.

    • Let us announce the opening of the call for applications for the Data Science Double Degree program with the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain! This program offers students the opportunity to earn two degrees in Data Science from two prestigious universities.

      - The call for applications is open to five applicants for the academic year 2023/2024;
      - The deadline for submission is Monday, July 3rd, 2023 at 12:00 (CEST).

      What is a TMDS curriculum?

      - TMDS curriculum is a unique opportunity for students who are interested in pursuing a career in Data Science and want to gain international experience. Students will have the opportunity to study at two universities and gain exposure to different cultures and academic approaches. The University encourages all interested students to apply for this exciting program.

      - TMDS is a curriculum, offered by the Data Science department. This is a double degree program between:

          - Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Department of Informatics (Barcelona, Spain)
          - Università degli Studi di Padova, Data Science (Padova, Italy)

      Program structure:

      - The TMDS curriculum is offered to five Master students, interested in Data Science
      - The program consists of 120 ECTS credits, acquired in two years
      - Students will spend the first and second semesters at their home university, and the third and fourth semesters at the host university
      - The language of instruction for the double degree is English, in both institutions
      - The study program (subjects and ECTS credits) are specified in the PDF document below
      - Your Master's thesis is prepared at the partner institution. The dissertation is jointly supervised by two professors - one from the partner university, and one from the home university

      Eligibility criteria:
      - The program is reserved for five students of the Data Science department

      What you will get:

      - A Master's degree in Data Science from the University of Padua
      - A Master's degree in Data Science from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya
      - Newly graduated students will be in a solid position to apply to high-level doctoral programs worldwide or for jobs in companies looking for a data scientist with solid international experience and a deep understanding of:
          - Data storage and processing
          - Big data management
          - Algorithms, databases, and data structures

    • What is a BDMA curriculum?

      - This is a joint Master's Degree in Big Data Management and Analytics, that covers all necessary skills for the data management and analytics aspects of Big Data, built on top of Business Intelligence foundations

      Program structure:

      - The curriculum is jointly delivered by:
          - Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Belgium
          - Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Spain
          - Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (TU/e), Netherlands
          - CentraleSupélec (CS), France
          - Università degli Studi di Padova (UniPD), Italy
      - The program is divided into four semesters of 30 ECTS each:
          - The first semester at ULB is focused on Business Intelligence
          - The second semester at UPC covers Big Data fundamentals
          - The third semester of the BDMA degree concentrates on how to couple these competencies with a business goal
          - The last semester is devoted to the Master's thesis
      - The tuition language is English

      Eligibility criteria:
      - Bachelor of Science degree, with at least 180 ECTS credits, and major in Computer Science
      - Proved B2 level of English proficiency

      What you will get:

      - Partners from leading industries in Business Intelligence, service companies, and public research institutes will train BDMA students, provide computers, software, course materials, job placement or internship perspectives, and financial support

    • UNIPD events for finding an internship and thesis projects:

      - Every year, the University of Padua organizes events, uniting academia with industry in the form of a career fair. The event is called Universita Aperta Career Day and usually is held in person.

      - Twice a year (approximately at the beginning of winter and summer semesters), you can hear from over a hundred companies from Italy and abroad. In addition, you can present yourself, and how your skills make you a decent candidate for the company

      - When attending the Universita Aperta Career Day event, consider printing several copies of your CV, since you can leave them to the recruiters of the companies you like. This is the ultimate chance to start your career after the university, or find an internship or thesis project!

      - In addition, every year Universita Aperta organizes a Business Game for Data Scientists event. This is a short solo hackathon.  Before participating in the hackathon, you must pick several companies for a 5-minute interview. After the hackathon results announcement, you will have a series of interviews with the companies you selected. If your position is decent on the leaderboard, you will likely get a job at the company you like!

    • A guide on how to start an internship:

      1. Successfully complete the online safety course (general training) available at:
          elearning.unipd.it/formazione/course/index.php?categoryid=39

      2. Find a receiving organization tutor (your supervisor in the hosting institution) and an academic supervisor (your supervisor at the university). Note that you need both tutor and a supervisor for accomplishing the internship

      3. Complete a training project through the website https://careers.unipd.it/en

      4. Let both tutor and supervisor electronically sign the training project 

      5. Send the electronically signed training project to stage@unipd.it


      A guide on how to register your internship credits:

      At the end of the internship, to have your 15 ECTS credits recorded, it is necessary to send two further simple documents to stage@unipd.it:

      1. A short final report of the work carried out and any critical issues encountered (an example is attached below).

      2. An internship completion certificate, electronically signed by the receiving organization tutor (an example is attached below)

    • Master's thesis application guide

      In order, to register your thesis, you have to:

      1. Find your thesis supervisor

      2. Wait for the opening of the thesis application period. This period depends on your preferred graduation date. The precise dates are listed in the section "When to register for graduation" on this link.

      3. Fill out the Almalaurea questionnaire (follow this link)

      4. In the section "Diploma attainment" of your Uniweb account, register the title of your thesis. At this step, a full PDF file with the thesis is not required. The PDF guide for title registration is available via this link.

      5. Once you have applied the thesis title, your thesis supervisor will receive an automatic notification. Wait for the approval of your thesis title by your supervisor

      6. After the title is approved - you will find a 16 euros payment slip in the payment section of your Uniweb account. Pay the slip, in accordance with the deadlines. The payment deadlines can be found via the link: https://www.unipd.it/en/graduation

      7. After the thesis title confirmation, you need to enter additional data in the "Diploma Attainment" section and upload the PDF file with your thesis. Once you upload the PDF of your thesis, no further changes will be possible. The volume, formatting, structure, and content of the thesis are discussed individually, between a student and his / her supervisor

      8. The thesis PDF uploading deadline is 8 days before the graduation date, as it is written on this page

      9. Thesis evaluation rules, that define the final score of your Master's degree, are described in the following PDF document

  • What is the Erasmus program?

    The Erasmus for Studies program allows students to spend a period of study (between 3 and 12 months) at one of the other 500 universities in one of the participating European countries (or in a non-European country). It is possible to carry out the mobility during every study cycle, attend courses and take exams, prepare thesis work, and carry out internship work as long as it runs alongside a period of study.
