The Comparative Physiology course focuses on the mechanisms underlying animal functions, from genes to organ systems, and how different environment challenges acted to shape unique adaptations. The main goal is to provide fundamental knowledge on the morphology and integrated functions of animal organisms, highlighting the relationships between structure and function, the evolution of various organs and systems, and functional adaptations in response to environmental conditions. In addition to exploring the integrated interactions between different organ systems, a comparative approach will also be employed, considering the mechanisms used by the most representative groups of invertebrates and vertebrates.
