The aim of the course is to give students an overview on the main classes of organic materials, with particular focused to their preparation, their characterization, their properties and their applications. Organic materials have a vast variety of functions and properties, that can be tailored by controlling molecular structure. In this course particular attention will be payed to the understanding of the relationship between molecular structure and properties/functions. Polymers, small molecules and biomolecules will be covered. The student will also get familiar with soft materials and the approaches to prepare ordered self-assembled supramolecular materials.
