Dear students,
Welcome to this new course in Marine Microbiology. Why ‘new’? Because, after several years, the professor who was in charge of the course has retired, and the role has now been assigned to me.
As you will realise from the very first lecture, this course will be a tough challenge for me, as I am only familiar with one part of it – the molecular aspects.
I hope, however, that with your help, I will be able to stimulate your curiosity about the subject, which I consider to be extremely vast and one with considerable future prospects.

Care studentesse e cari studenti,

benvenute/e a questo modulo del corso integrato in Biologia Molecolare della Cellula in cui avrete modo di:
 - studiare alcune delle principali funzioni biologiche svolte dalle macromolecole, acidi nucleici e proteine, negli organismi viventi;
- poter sperimentare durante le esercitazioni alcune delle metodiche di base della biologia molecolare;
- cominciare ad imparare terminologie e linguaggio scientifico che sono necessari per impostare in maniera corretta una discussione tra pari.
