La prova finale (3 CFU) consiste nella presentazione e discussione di un progetto, eventualmente comprendente una parte sperimentale e di laboratorio, sviluppato in squadra sotto la supervisione di un docente di riferimento.

Grazie alla prova di progettazione in squadra gli studenti possono applicare le conoscenze acquisite a stimolanti proposte progettuali preparate dai docenti del corso. Contestualmente, dovendo organizzare e gestire autonomamente il lavoro in squadra per affrontare un problema originale, gli studenti hanno la possibilità di potenziare l’apprendimento in termini di autonomia di giudizio (making judgements), abilità comunicative (communication skills) e capacità di apprendere (learning skills).

Sono previste due finestre temporali all'anno in cui saranno proposti possibili progetti per le prove di progettazione:

  • Settembre  -> Per i laureandi di Novembre/Dicembre (stesso anno solare) e Febbraio/Marzo (anno solare successivo)
  • Marzo -> Per i laureandi di Luglio (stesso anno solare) e Settembre (stesso anno solare)

Il conseguimento del titolo nelle date sopra indicate non è obbligatorio. Tuttavia, tali date rappresentano un'indicazione sulle tempistiche per la discussione dei progetti.

In ciascun periodo vengono proposti almeno due progetti su due argomenti distinti connessi con gli insegnamenti del Corso di Laurea.

Per ogni squadra è prevista una numerosità minima e massima dipendente anche dalla complessità del tema e quindi stabilita dal docente proponente.

Il tempo a disposizione della squadra per lo sviluppo del progetto è indicativamente pari a due mesi.

A discrezione del docente proponente, ed in relazione anche al numero di possibili studenti che devono sostenere la prova, sono possibili due modalità distinte di svolgimento della stessa:

  • progetto senza competizione tra squadre

  • progetto con competizione tra squadre

Valutazione della prova:

Vengono svolte almeno due valutazioni dell’attività svolta da ogni squadra, una in itinere ed una conclusiva:

  • valutazione in itinere: dopo circa 15/20 giorni dalla consegna delle proposto, ciascuna squadra illustra lo stato di avanzamento del progetto al docente proponente. Il docente può suggerire di modificare o approfondire alcuni aspetti della progettazione e formula un primo giudizio di sintesi sull’attività svolta dalla squadra. Il giudizio viene comunicato agli studenti. In caso di giudizio insufficiente, gli studenti della squadra non possono presentare la domanda di laurea. In caso di giudizio sufficiente, o superiore alla sufficienza, gli studenti della squadra possono presentare la domanda di laurea indicando come relatore il docente che ha proposto il tema di progettazione;

  • valutazione finale: dopo circa 45/60 giorni dalla consegna delle proposte, una commissione preparatoria formata da due docenti convoca la squadra, o le squadre in caso di competizione, e discute scelte e risultati conseguiti. La commissione accerta l’attività svolta da ciascun membro della squadra ed esprime una valutazione su tale attività (voto in trentesimi). La valutazione viene trasmessa alla Commissione di laurea che esprime il giudizio finale.

Per la valutazione finale del progetto, è richiesto a ciascuna squadra di preparare una presentazione in formato elettronico avente come contenuto una concisa descrizione del problema, delle scelte progettuali effettuate, dei calcoli e delle analisi svolte a supporto delle scelte proposte. La presentazione può essere eventualmente integrata da una relazione in formato pdf, se espressamente richiesta dal docente supervisore. Presentazione ed eventuale relazione sono archiviate nella piattaforma Moodle.

Una volta sostenuta, l'esito della prova finale resta valido fino al conseguimento del titolo.

The final exam (3 ECTS credits) consists of the presentation and discussion of a project, possibly including an experimental and laboratory component, developed in a team under the supervision of a reference professor.

Through the team design project, students can apply the knowledge acquired to stimulating design proposals prepared by the course professors. At the same time, by having to independently organize and manage teamwork to address an original problem, students have the opportunity to enhance their learning in terms of making judgements, communication skills, and learning skills.

There are two time windows per year when possible projects for design tests will be proposed:

September -> For graduates of November/December (same calendar year) and February/March (following calendar year)
March -> For graduates of July (same calendar year) and September (same calendar year)

Obtaining the degree on the above dates is not mandatory. However, these dates represent an indication of the timing for project discussions.

In each period, at least two projects on two distinct topics related to the Degree Course teachings are proposed.

For each team, there is a minimum and maximum number of members, also depending on the complexity of the theme and therefore established by the proposing professor.

The time available to the team for project development is approximately two months.

At the discretion of the proposing professor, and also in relation to the number of potential students who must take the test, two distinct modes of carrying out the projects are possible:

  • project without competition between teams
  • project with competition between teams

Project evaluation:

At least two evaluations of each team's activity are carried out, one in progress and one final:

  • In-progress evaluation: After about 15/20 days from the delivery of the proposals, each team illustrates the project's progress to the proposing professor. The professor may suggest modifying or deepening some aspects of the design and formulates an initial summary judgment on the team's activity. The judgment is communicated to the students. In case of an insufficient judgment, the team students cannot submit the degree application. In case of a sufficient judgment, or above sufficiency, the team students can submit the degree application indicating the professor who proposed the design theme as the supervisor.

  • Final evaluation: After about 45/60 days from the delivery of the proposals, a preparatory commission formed by two professors convenes the team, or teams in case of competition, and discusses choices and results achieved. The commission ascertains the activity carried out by each team member and expresses an evaluation on this activity (grade out of thirty). The evaluation is transmitted to the Degree Commission, which expresses the final judgment.

For the final evaluation of the project, each team is required to prepare some presentation slides with a concise description of the problem, the design choices made, and the calculations and analyses carried out to support the proposed choices. The presentation can be possibly integrated with a report in pdf format, if expressly requested by the supervising professor. The presentation and any report are archived on the Moodle platform.

Once taken, the outcome of the final exam remains valid until the degree is obtained.
