Welcome to this Course Unit

Fundamentals of Environmental Engineering

The objective of the course:

Providing the necessary background for understanding the relevant processes in circular economy. For this reason, the main sources of contamination and the related compounds are presented, the main characterization techniques are introduced as well as the processes of transformation in the environment.

Expectations from t
he students:

Refresh some chemistry, learn how to solve simple exercises and to perform simple calculation to quantify relevant parameters in the environment.

Course Structure:

Part 1 : Introduction to environmental issues and of sources of contamination

Part 2 : Organic compounds relevant for the environment: sources and properties

Part 3 : Water, waste and soil characterization

Part 4: Transformation of compounds in the environment: degradation processes

I hope you enjoy the lessons as we delve deeper into the course content!
