By the end of the course, students will be able to achieve the following Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs):
- ILO1: Describe the components and structure of modern communication systems and the Internet protocol stack
- ILO2: Analyze the performance of communication networks using standard diagnostic tools (e.g., ping, iperf, ifconfig)
Context: In hands-on lab sessions with virtual topologies
- ILO3: Programming advanced packet forwarding policies based on the modern Software Defined Networking (SDN) principles.
- ILO4: Implement MATLAB scripts to acquire, process, and encode multimedia signals (audio, images, 3D video)
- ILO5: Critically evaluate trade-offs between compression quality and transmission rate for different multimedia encoding formats (G.711, JPEG, MPEG)
- ILO6: Communicate project outcomes and technical challenges effectively, using appropriate terminology
- IL07: Acquire troubleshooting skills for networking problems and bug-hunting skills to correct programming errors
